The Chatham County School District is currently ranked #26 out of 116 in the state of North Carolina, according to Niche.com. Our community is within the public school district that includes Pittsboro Elementary, Horton Middle School, and Northwood High School. Private options include Haw River Christian Academy, Willow Oak Montessori, Thales Academy, Jordan Lake School of the Arts (JLSA, and Excelsior Classical Academy. Chatham County Schools participate in a dual enrollment program called Central Carolina Works in which specific high school classes provide the student with college credits. Chatham County has also opened the Chatham County School of Science and Engineering in Siler City where a high school student can obtain an associate degree without the cost of tuition.
All three of the state’s Tier 1 Research Universities are within 30 minutes of Pittsboro. Main campuses for Duke University, North Carolina State University, and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are an easy commute for our residents. Campbell University, Meredith College, and NC Wesleyan College are just a few of the prestigious private colleges in the area and Wake Technical Community College and Central Carolina Community College both provide locals with affordable continuing education programs and degrees. These locations also offer certification courses and adult workshops on convenient evening and weekend schedules.
Beyond traditional schools, Ryan’s Crossing residents will find many arts, IT, and specified training schools at their fingertips. There are three flight schools nearby: ATP Flight School in Morrisville and Executive Flight Training and Wings of Carolina Flying Club, both in Sanford.
